Finally built up my nerve to go back out to null sec again. Again, I don't know why it took me so long, but I fitted up a rifter to be real fast and very agile so that I could quickly align and warp if needed. I also fitted a cloaking device to give me an extra out if I needed it.
The trip out was pretty uneventful. I found a map of our jump bridges and headed to the closest one. However, the map I saw had "proposed jump bridges" as well and the system I got to was devoid of jump bridges. So I had to go a bit further, but I got a visual on absolutely no hostiles. Most systems were in fact absolutely empty. I wonder how easily I could get away with transporting some goods out there?
There were a couple in local a couple of times, but using the warp/cancel warp trick, I was able to set up some safe spots near the gates I wanted to jump through and was able to get close enough to scan them (14 AU). Already put to use one of the lessons I learned while losing Barbie. :)
However, there were no gate camps and even if there were, I could have probably gotten away pretty quickly. . .after flying the hurricane for a while, this quick and nimble rifter was ridiculously fast.
So I am back in our system in Fountain and ready to jump back into some roams or home defense.
Just a blog about my exploits in 0.0 with Dreddit, Testies and other internet spaceships.

Popping My Cherry
So I got my pod popped for the first time this morning.
I did a bunch of stupid things, but I know what I did wrong. . . well, at least some of the things I did wrong.. . .so I should be better off for it. Part of this post is to write it out so it hopefully sticks a bit better.
It all began last night. I kind of moved out of our home base in Fountain because I was promised more PvP and a better market if i moved to another system. I wanted to buy a Maelstrom so that I could join in some of our Alpha Fleets and opened the market to hunt around for one. Big surprise, there were no Maelstroms for sale in our station. The closest was a few of systems away, however, I wasn't sure if I could even dock in that station because it was a Serpentis station and I have a very bad standing with them.
No one seemed to know in the alliance channel, so I decided to just jump on over there and see if I could. Being a complete moron, I took my most expensive ship there (Mistake #1). Why I didn't jump into a throw away Rifter, I have no idea. But I went out in my overpriced Hurricane, Barbie. I really like the name Barbie and am sad that the ship lasted such a short period of time.. . oh well, there will be more stupid names that I like.
Anyway, I make the first few jumps and then realize that I am no longer in the "our" space; everyone in local is orange, so I feel like I am in a little bit of trouble and should have turned around right then (Mistake #2). Headstrong and stupid, I warp around, create a safe spot, get to it and start scanning. No one is on the gate I want to go to so I just jump right over there and warp into the final system.
No gate camp here but it is still enemy territory, but, at this point, it is very safe to just jump to the station if you are allowed to dock there. I shouldn't have done so, but I got lucky and it did allow me to dock, which is a big relief. In the station everyone is orange, so I am scared shitless for when I have to leave. I get called into watch a movie at this point so I just log.
This morning at around 10:30 EST, I get back on my character and, despite seeing the guys speaking some Russian looking language in chat, think that this is probably a good time to get out (Mistake #3). Although, if they are Russian or some other eastern Europe country, it is probably mid-day to early evening Saturday. . .prime time. Stupid stupid.
I undock and see no one outside of the station. I pull up my scanner and do a quick scan of the gate. No one on it, perfect. . .so I warp to it. However, as I am warping to it a bad guy must be warping there as well. . . and we meet on the gate. Not wanting to fight him on his home turf and not really knowing much about what ship he was flying (Mistake #4, I should have at least made a mental note of what ship he was in so I could have thought about it after) I just jumped through the gate and he followed me, hungry for the kill.
On the other side of the gate I try to warp immediately, but I see him come out of cloak and immediately target and warp scramble me. "Oh fuck, I am screwed" however, I figure I can survive his blasters long enough to get back to the gate and warp out and then immediately warp back to the station as he will be stuck on this side of the gate for having aggressed me.
As I am desperately running for the gate, I see three little blue guys warp right onto the gate. Friendlies, awesome! The guy who was attacking me, seeing that he is ridiculously out number, warps off. If I had played it right, I would have had him locked already and when I saw the guys I could have dropped a warp scamble on him and gotten the kill (Mistake #5). I give a wave to the guys, o/, thank them for saving my ass and then, stupidly, continue on my way instead of heading back to the station (Mistake #6).
Sitting at a safe spot I wait for my shields to recharge before I move on. Satisfied with their level, I scan the gate I am jumping to and it looks empty. So I jump to it at 0ms. The problem is that I think I was more than 14 AU away from the gate and so no ships at the gate would be seen (Mistake #7) AND jumping blind to the gate AT ZERO FUCKING METERS, is absolutely idiotic (Mistake #8).
Of course, I come out of warp in the middle of a bunch of oranges. I manage to jump through the gate immediately but they follow me and quickly get a tackle on me no problem. I am going down for sure at this point. . .at least, I don't know what I could have done to get out of it. Assuming I stand no chance I start spamming warp to the next gate so that when my ship blows, at least I will get away with my pod. However, for some reason, it does not work and I get targeted and popped. I am sure I made a mistake here, just not sure what it is quite yet (Mistake #9).
The worst part about it is that I didn't move my medical clone to the new base. . .so I was sent ALL the way back to where I started (Mistake #10) and have to take the 30+ jump trip back out to our base in Fountaing.
I figure I will make some kind of fast, cloaking rifter for the trip back out so that I am hard to tackle and so I can get their quickly. I am just definitely going to properly scan gates this trip.
Well, hopefully I will take the lessons I learned here forward into the game.

The new home
Just before I joined Dreddit, some major things happened with the corp or, more accurately, the Test Alliance.
I guess I should talk a little about the corp and the alliance at this point. A member of the great internet site Reddit, Fletcher Hammond, decided at some point (I have no idea when, I guess a little over a year ago) to start a corporation for Reddit members. I guess it was a success because it is a fairly large corporation (I don't know how many pilots. . .like a shit-ton, possibly?) and, due to its success, it spawns the alliance "Test Alliance Please Ignore." We affectionately refer to ourselves as "Testies." It proceeds to suck up a bunch of corporations and becomes one of the 3 largest alliances in the game and eventually joins with northern coalition.
A month before I join, Test captured it's new home in Fountain and set up a POS there.
So I am moving into a new station where everyone is new as well. People are shipping in goods, bringing all their crap there. It is kind of like moving into the wild west. You don't know what to expect, no stable market, modules and ships at ridiculous prices, no one having a fucking clue what is going on. It was a clusterfuck to say the least but hopefully in time things will settle down.

Getting to Fountain
After waiting a few days to actually get into Dreddit, obessively checking the queue to see if it progressed at all (it only seemed to be getting longer), I finally got my acceptance letter. I don't know why I was so excited to get into a corp that had absolutely no joining requirements other than not being an idiot, doing the application correctly and being a Reddit memeber for a months. . . but I was. Deal with it.
However, never having been to 0.0 space I was a little nervous. First, I jumped into my trusted Rifter, El Duderino (somehow this survived that last 4 RvB battles I had been in), traded the rest of my possessions to my trader alt and then read up on how to get to Fountain.
Reading up made me even more nervous about going out there. So many tips on how to jump around in there to avoid warp bubbles (I had never seen a warp bubble because they are only allowed in 0.0 space) and how to use local chat (kind of used to this from my days as a low sec pirate). It was the same feeling I had the first time going into Ashenvale in WoW . . . I had heard all these stories, read all these things about what happened in PvP zones and I was sure I would die in a matter of seconds.
My trip from high sec to fountain took me about 33 jumps, most of which were through low sec and null sec. Once I hit low sec I was on high alert. Every jump I was sure would be right into a gate camp. One other person in local chat freaked me out. At least i knew I was flying an inexpensive ship so that I wasn't too afraid of getting killed, but I still didn't want to worry about being popped and losing my implants.
Low sec was not a problem at all. I saw a couple of pirates in a few local channels, but knowing a bit about how they think, I was fairly confident that I could make it out alive in my quick little Rifter.
Null sec was a different story. As i said, I had no experience here. Most of the systems were empty, so I didn't have to worry about jumping straight to next gate because there was little to no risk of warp bubbles.
However, after a few jumps into low sec, I was getting pretty comfortable and confident. I jump into an empty system, and immediately warp to the next gate. Oh crap, a warp bubble. But there is no one in local. Are they waiting on the other side of the gate? Are they about to jump in and nail me? I frantically point back to the gate and enable my afterburner. The whole time my heart is beating pretty quickly. Why am I so freaked out? This ship is worth almost nothing.
Of course, nothing happens. It must have been a bubble from an old gate camp, the campers long gone. For all i know it could have been Testies who had set it up.
I continue my trip. As I close in on our home system, local gets more and more populated by corp mates and alliance members. Even though they don't offer much security, I did feel more secure which is all that matters.
Soon I reached the station. Welcome to your new home, Cadaverous.

First Post and I Just Joined Dreddit
So I have been playing Eve on and off for quite some time. I like the game a lot and sometimes it bores the hell out of me.
I tried just grinding missions in high sec at first, but this was incredibly boring. I then joined a pirate corp because I figured this would be some of the best PvP. While they accepted me and seemed perfectly content having me around, I just didn't feel like I was contributing and got bored with it after a while. So I went back to high sec to build up some skills and joined Red v Blue to get some combat practice.
You can also play the game for free if you manage to make enough money. So it was fun to be only risking cheap ships in RvB while i built up some isk on my trader alt to enable me to play the game for free.
However, my other guild had some upcoming MMOs that looked promising, but were ultimately failures IMO, so I once again shelved Eve for those.
But now, I'm back. I saw that reddit had its own corp in game and figured that I would be around somewhat like minded people that I could play with. They like to PvP so this was a big draw so i decided to resub my account and jump back in.
That is what this blog will be about, my experiences with Dreddit in 0.0 space and wherever I go from there. Possibly I will go back to pirating at some point, but for now I am going to try to absorb as much information as I can to better myself as a player and, of course, have some fun blowing spaceships up.
